The medium used was modeling clay and basic sculpting tools.
By sculpting the features of the face, such as the eye, nose, ear, and mouth, I began learning how to move clay properly and make the facial features look realistic.
Using a live model and images as a reference, I was able to sculpt a bust. The individual facial features were easier to work with, whereas the bust provided some challenges. Some of the challenges included portioning, smaller muscles in the face and how they connect to each other, and working on a 3D surface versus a flat block.
The staging process was where I was able to use my creativity. I wanted to create something small enough to show detail but also show movement in the sculpture. No frog is the same and some limbs are in motion.
